SANDLOT COLISEUM / CAMP DESIGN BUILD ADVENTURE

Sunday, I was lucky to be at the "first 'throw" at the new East Side Play.

East Side Play is the first effort by Marfa's Dersu Collective

to use proceeds from their group art shows to develop and

fund small community projects . And in the last two weeks, they used

some of their proceeds to clear, mow, fence the new sandlot Coliseum .

And Sunday, Soccer Balls and Footballs were flying,

This summer - at the first ever CAMP DESIGN BUILD ADVENTURE,

workshop participants will design and build an exciting shade structure

as well as some benches, and whatever other great ideas turn up -

entirely from donated and salvaged materials in Marfa, TX

The kids of East Side Play will participate in the design,

already contributing ideas, such as "building a dome over the

entire playing field" ...

There are only a few spots left in first ever, Camp Design Build Adventure -

No Experience Necessary,

Must enjoy designing with crayolas, and pencils on cardboard and scrap wood,

and building with materials that we will salvage and carry to site by hand,

Must be comfortable with slow IPhones , and Siestas

Must also enjoy talking about designing and building in the evening

around the grill, under the big Marfa sky

CAMP DESIGN BUILD ADVENTURE

Camp Design Build Adventure (July 11-17, 2011 @ EL COSMICO)

is excited to begin it's Adventure with the Dersu Collective,

a Marfa-based group of artists who create and donate small-scale artworks to be

sold for the sole purpose of funding specific in-need Marfa projects and equipment.

Camp Design Build Adventure is hoping to work this summer

on their first project, "East Side Play".

With the funds from recent art show, Camp Design

Build Adventure participants would assist the Dersu Collective in their effort

to create safe playing area on the east side of Marfa .

DOONANNY 2011

Here she is !

Our annual "Doonanny" poster , for the march 25,26 event in Seale, Alabama.

This poster will be printed only 200 times.

And sold exclusively at the Doonanny -

though you might be able to pull them off the walls at random

gas stations and restaurants along I-10 ... as I will be departing a

week early and taking the Daryl, the Design Build Adventure van,

and the welder.

This year's projects include developing a "mullet smoker" from

an old BMW and to begin laying the foundation for my own

Woods of Wonder Cabin , or Outhouse , or Camp ...

Austin's own Resistance Ensemble and STORMSHELTER are

on this year's schedule.
